Bryan McVerry

Dr. McVerry is a pulmonologist and critical care physician whose research interest is focused on translational investigation of the biological mechanisms underlying the development and consequences of sepsis and acute lung injury. His research efforts are designed to span the continuum from the bench to the bedside. Currently interests include: 1) contributions of the host microbiome to the evolution of and outcomes following critical illness, 2) mechanisms of glucose homeostasis and regulation of host response to nutritional support in critical illness, 3) biological phenotypes of critical illness and the impact on treatment decisions and outcomes, 4) mechanisms underlying the development of cognitive impairment in critically ill patients, and 5) development of novel therapeutic strategies for prevention and treatment of acute respiratory failure in the context of pneumonia and/or sepsis.
