Bulelwa Nosilela

Subject Head, African Languages, Rhodes University

Bulelwa Nosilela did her first degree (majoring in African Languages and English Language and Linguistics) as well as her honours degree (in African Languages) at Rhodes.

Throughout her academic career, Bulelwa has done research focused on the promotion and development of indigenous African languages. Before the re-introduction of mother tongue courses at Rhodes, she taught on issues related to multilingualism, particularly the acquisition of isiXhosa by non-mother tongue speakers. As a lecturer, she is now able to add value to scholarship in African languages and is currently working towards her PhD.
