Maternal and child health is the cornerstone of a life lived healthily. Healthy women grow healthy children, who then go on to have healthy children themselves. Women's health and their role in society is critical to the health of their families and influences the wider community. My research is focussed on interventions in the (mostly) perinatal period that can improve outcomes for women and children. The perinatal period is an ideal time to intervene as almost all women have some sort of engagement with health care providers, and are motivated to adopt healthy behaviours. Using epidemiological and qualitative methods my research is public health orientated, and focusses on population prevention, and interventions that target behaviour, measure and examine health service delivery that integrate and apply to policy.
