Cara R. Muñoz Buchanan, MD is a practicing Emergency Physician and Clinical Fellow in Health Policy and Social Emergency Medicine Research at Harvard University whose focus is on the health and human rights of detained and justice-involved patient populations. Cara's research seeks to evaluate clinical experience working with justice-involved patients and translate it into clinically informed health policy innovation at the local and national levels. Cara is currently completing a Master's Degree in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School where she is exploring the connections between the daily challenges to justice-involved care witnessed in emergency clinical practice and the larger systems and structures of immigration detention and criminal justice that inform such presentations.
