Cathie Sherrington

Professor, Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, School of Public Health, University of Sydney

Prof Sherrington is a National Health and Medical Research Council Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, School of Public Health, University of Sydney with a background as a physiotherapist in aged care and neurological rehabilitation. She leads the Institute's 17-person Physical Activity, Ageing and Disability Research Stream. Her research focuses on the promotion of physical activity for the enhancement of mobility and the prevention of falls in older people and people with disabling conditions.

Prof Sherrington has been Chief Investigator on NHMRC grants totalling $19 million. She is lead Chief Investigator for 3 current NHMRC grants and a Chief Investigator on 2 others. She has authored 200+ refereed journal articles including reports of 24 clinical trials, 20 systematic reviews and 14 cohort studies. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and President of the Australia and New Zealand Fall Prevention Society.
