I am a Chief Research Scientist at CSIRO’s Data61. I lead a CSIRO-wide research programme on Collaborative Intelligence, one of CSIRO’s Future Science Platforms. I have a PhD from Columbia University (New York) in Artificial Intelligence. With over 35 years of research management experience and 300 refereed articles, I have made fundamental contributions to natural language processing, user modelling and social media analytics. My work has often been multidisciplinary and rooted in practical concerns, with the desire to have impact in the real world. I am a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and of the Royal Society of NSW.
