Associate Research Fellow, University of Wollongong

Christian arrived at University of Wollongong in November, 2015 after completing a PhD and then spending three years as a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at University of Lincoln (UK). He is an accredited sport scientist (specialising in sport psychology) with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences, and has worked with amateur and professional athletes/teams across a range of sports (from golf to rugby and dancing).

Christian's research is primarily interested in the psychology underlying excellent performance in sport; mental toughness in sport, exercise and other activities (e.g., high-altitude mountaineering); and he is currently working on a project promoting mental health and wellbeing in adolescent sport ("Ahead of the Game"), funded by The Movember Foundation. He has interviewed over 100 elite athletes to date, and his research has been featured by ESPN, Marvel Comics, Scientific American Mind, and national media.
