Christopher Chávez

Associate Professor of Communications, University of Oregon

Chris' research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of globalization, media and culture. Dr. Chávez is author of Reinventing the Latino Television Viewer: Language Ideology and Practice and is co-editor of Identity: Beyond Tradition and McWorld Neoliberalism. His work has also appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Consumption, Markets and Culture, International Journal of Communication and the Journal of Communication Inquiry. Prior to his doctoral research, Dr. Chávez worked as an advertising executive at several advertising agencies including TBWA Chiat/Day, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and Publicis & Hal Riney.
