Christopher Coles

Senior Teaching Scholar in Accounting and Finance, University of Stirling

I am an accountant by profession, and I qualified (ACCA and CIOT) whilst working for KPMG, where I spent several years working as a tax consultant. Before I came to Stirling, I taught at the University of Glasgow, and my teaching portfolio there included courses in financial accounting, management accounting, and financial management. I was also in charge of Glasgow's taught postgraduate programmes in accounting and finance. My last achievement at Glasgow was to mentor the winning team in the 2013 UK round of CIMA's Global Business Challenge.

In addition to my professional qualifications, I hold a Masters degree in Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, both awarded by the University of Dundee. I am currently working towards a Doctorate in Education.

At Stirling, my responsibilities include teaching on a variety of financial accounting, management accounting and taxation modules, as well as representing the Division of Accounting and Finance on the School of Management's Learning and Teaching Committee. I am also Chair of the Divisional Student-Staff Consultative Committee.

Outside interests include committee membership of the ACCA's Tayside and North Fife members' panel, and membership of QAA Scotland's Working Group on the Postgraduate Student Experience.
