Dr Colby Zaph joined the Department in 2008 as an Assistant Professor. Colby obtained his BSc (Honours) in Biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan in 1995 and completed his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia with Phil Scott studying immunity to the protozoan parasite Leishmania.

His post-doctoral work was also carried out at UPenn in the lab of David Artis focusing on the immune responses to the helminth parasite Trichuris. Dr Zaph’s research is focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate the balance between immunity and inflammation in the intestine.
