Lecturer and Programme Leader MSc International Tourism and Events Management, Glasgow Caledonian University

Daniel Baxter is a Lecturer in International Tourism and Event Management within the Department of Fashion, Marketing, Tourism and Events at Glashow Caledonian University. He is the Programme Leader for the MSc International Tourism and Events Management. Daniel is also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is on the executive committee of the Association for Event Management Education (AEME).

Part of Daniel’s role at GCU is to identify strategic partnerships, collaborations and TNE prospects within the Business School. Daniel is working towards a Professional Doctorate in the area of Transnational Education. His research focus on current issues impacting the events and tourism sector. He has recently published work on the impact terrorism is having on events professionals and is working on research that seeks to understand the permeation of drag events into contemporary culture in the UK. He has contributed and developed various international projects, has been involved in a number of consultancy projects nationally and internationally.

Before academia, Daniel worked within the International Events and Tourism industry. He has worked Tui UK, the Moffat Centre, ILOVETOUR and British Airways. Daniel utilises his industry experience and embeds this in his teaching, ensuring that students are developing the transferable skills needed to be future industry leaders.
