Daniela E. Miranda

Postdoctoral Researcher, Universidad de Sevilla

Daniela E. Miranda is a first-generation Latina from the United States who has built her academic career in Sevilla, Spain at CESPYD the Center for Community Research and Action at the Universidad de Sevilla. Her dissertation offered a framework that linked psycho-social-political empowerment to the advocacy process, alongside Romani women and girls, grassroots organizations, and other local partnerships in projects financed by the Open Society Foundation and the European Commission. The results of her work laid the foundations for subsequent projects financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the regional Andalusian government, of which she is Principal Investigator, that gives continuity to her dissertation. She is a founding member of the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) Roma Health network, and is active in scientific dissemination and scientific meetings in various settings. Currently, Daniela is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Universidad de Sevilla, spending a year as a Visiting Researcher at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. She is focused on understanding the methodological implications of co-creation for public health research in the digital space and exploring ways in innovating in methodologies such as Photovoice, community journalism and other participatory approaches. Daniela is passionate about building meaningful relationships between researchers and communities and challenge the boundaries of co-creation.
