Danielle Fuller

(She/They)
Professor, Department of English and Film Studies, University of Alberta

My main area of research is contemporary readers and cultures of reading, mainly in anglophone regions of the world. I have undertaken research with adults, children and teenagers. I use a combination of empirical methods and textual analysis in my research and, for 20 years, have worked collaboratively with other researchers, especially with Dr DeNel Rehberg Sedo.

I was originally trained as a specialist in Canadian Literature at the University of Leeds (UK) where I earned my PhD. I still maintain an interest in contemporary Canadian writing, especially through my teaching commitments at the University of Alberta where I work in the Department of English & Film Studies. I am also an Adjunct Professor in Sociology. Prior to emigration, I worked for 20 years at the University of Birmingham, UK.

I am the current President of an international scholarly association that brings together researchers working on writing and reading technologies from diverse cultures, historical periods and geographies: SHARP (Society for the History of Authorship, Reading and Publishing).
