Darlene is a Bundjalung and South Sea Islander woman from Fingal Heads. She lives, studies, learns and works on the Country of her ancestors in northern New South Wales. She has 16 years’ experience in the health sector and was a counsellor and health educator in an Aboriginal health unit. Darlene is a research academic and lecturer at Gnibi College of Australian Indigenous peoples at Southern Cross University. She holds an undergraduate degree in arts, a Master’s degree in Indigenous knowledge and is a present PhD student.
Darlene’s research focus is on improving the health and wellbeing of first nation’s peoples in Australia, and includes strengthening and empowering the cultural health workforce. And includes cultural interface studies and Indigenous methodologies.
