Associate Professor, School of Physical Therapy, Western University

David Walton is an Associate Professor with the School of Physical Therapy at Western University, Director and Lead Researcher of the Pain and Quality of Life Integrative Research Lab at Western. Outside of the university, he is an Associate Scientist with the Lawson Health Research Institute, an Honorary Associate Professor in the Discipline of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney (Australia), and Associate Editor of the scientific journal Musculoskeletal Science and Practice. He currently holds the titles of Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) Faculty Scholar, and FHS Teaching Fellow. His research focuses on the measurement and mechanisms of chronic pain and on innovative strategies for moving new knowledge into practice. He is the lead researcher on a number of large research initiatives, including the SYMBIOME acute-to-recovery/chronicity musculoskeletal recovery project, the Physio Moves Canada ethnographic study of threats, opportunities, and innovations in Canadian rehabilitation, and a new competency-based interprofessional pain management degree program at Western.
