Professor in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, University of Sydney

David Winlaw is a paediatric heart surgeon at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney and Professor in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery at the University of Sydney. His research interests include outcomes of neonatal cardiac surgery, long term outcomes of patients with single ventricles, bioengineering heart valves and the role of genetics in the development of congenital heart disease.

David graduated from UNSW in Medicine (1990), completed an MD by thesis (2006) and FRACS in Cardiac Surgery (2001). He has served on the Medical Services Advisory Committee, NHMRC Panels and is currently Lead Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.
