Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos

Dr Giannoulopoulos' research provides cross-cultural analysis of foreign procedural and institutional frameworks of criminal justice. Dr Giannoulopoulos holds a PhD from the Doctoral School of Comparative Studies at the Sorbonne Law School (Paris I), and has completed Master degrees in criminal law, criminal procedure and criminology, in Athens, Aix-en-Provence and London. Key themes explored in Dr Giannoulopoulos’ research include improperly obtained evidence, telephone interceptions and electronic surveillance, police interrogation and suspects’ rights in Europe and the United States as well as comparative counter-terrorism legislation after September 11. Dr Giannoulopoulos has appeared on TV and has commented on current affairs for the BBC, the Guardian, Daily Telegraph and the Independent. He has also offered consultation to policy and governmental experts in the UK and abroad, and has provided training to criminal justice experts in many European countries.
