Dominic D.B. Makwa

Dominic D.B. Makwa is a music lecturer in the Department of Performing Arts and Film at Makerere University in Uganda, where he teaches courses ranging across ethnomusicology, popular music studies, music archiving, music video production, research methods, data analysis and report writing to both undergraduate and graduate students. He received his PhD (Music) from Stellenbosch University (South Africa), MA (Music) through a program between Makerere University and University of Bergen (Norway), BA (Music) Makerere University and Diploma (Education) from Kyambogo University (Uganda). Dr Makwa has won numerous scholarships and academic fellowships. His research interests include integration of music, dance and ritual, music and gender, music archiving, children's music, music festivals as well as musical communication in contexts of displacement.
