Douglas Macdonald

Douglas Macdonald is Senior Lecturer Emeritus with the School of the Environment, University of Toronto. He is the author of two books, The Politics of Pollution: Why Canadians are Failing their Environment (1991) and Business and Environmental Politics in Canada (2007), which was awarded the Canadian Political Science Association Donald Smiley prize as the best book published that year on Canadian politics and government. He is the author of a number of peer-reviewed articles and professional reports on Canadian environmental and climate-change politics and policy. His forthcoming book, Carbon Province, Hydro Province: The Challenge of Canadian Energy and Climate Federalism, to be published by University of Toronto Press in spring 2020, uses historical analysis to generate insights for how Canadian federal and provincial governments can for the first time work together to achieve a given greenhouse gas emission reduction target.
