Durgesh Solanki is a PhD student in the Sociology department. His research interests lie in medical sociology, urban inequality, empire, and the comparative study of caste and race. Durgesh’s current work examines the relationship between colonialism and the development of sanitation systems in the spread and management of plague epidemics in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Durgesh holds MA and MPhil degrees from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai.
