Ed Rybicki

I direct a large research group specialising in production of vaccine- and diagnostic-relevant proteins and high-value protein reagents via various expression systems, but mainly in plants. I have an interest in the diversity of viruses generally, and of avian circoviruses in particular.

We have - as of 2013 - a Biopharming Research Unit recognised by the UCT Research Committee, with me as Director. We are also associated with a company founded in 2018 - Cape Bio Pharms - that is licensing products from us, as well as developing their own.
