Eleanor Hutchinson

Associate Professor in Anthropology and Public Health, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

I originally trained as a development anthropologist with Sandra Wallman at University College London. Following my PhD, I worked at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) with Shahra Razavi in the Gender and Development Team on a pioneering project on the care economy. I came to LSHTM to research policy development for cotrimoxazole preventive therapy in Zambia, Malawi and Uganda. Since then, I have worked on a range of projects assessing the unintended consequences of complex interventions with a particular focus on the limits of care that is dependent on commodities.
