Dr Emma Otterski is a teaching fellow in philosophy at Trinity College Dublin.
She received her PhD in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh. Her thesis looked at our psychological ability to attribute mental states (beliefs, desires, emotions etc) to others, arguing that there are social and cultural phenomena that traditional theories are unable to account for.
Emma's research areas are philosophy of mind and cognitive science (particularly social cognition), philosophy of science, and feminist philosophy. She thinks all of these are needed to answer the question of how we (mis)understand each other. Additionally, she has teaching interests in moral philosophy.
Emma also has an MSt. from St. Peter's College, the University of Oxford, and an MA (hons) from the University of Edinburgh.
