Postdoctoral Fellow in Sociology, City, University of London

I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Sociology of the City, University of London, working as part of the ProDem project (https://prodem.uni-frankfurt.de/). I obtained my Ph.D. summa cum laude from the Central European University. I am also the recipient of the Young Scholar Award 2021 of the European Sociological Association, as well as the Outstanding Dissertation Award of the Doctoral School of Political Sciences, Public Policy and International Relations. In the past, I have been Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Politics of the University of Manchester and Visiting Fellow at the University of California, Irvine, the University of San Diego, and Bard College.

My research tackles questions central to social and political change from three angles. I am interested in how activists care for each other and how social movement organizations empower oppressed collectives. Moreover, at ProDem, I research how social movements and movement parties together with a realignment of citizens’ values and attitudes have affected democratic quality in six EU countries. Finally, I also study the ideology and tactics of far-right movements and parties.

My work has appeared in numerous media outlets, including BBC World News, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, El País, and El Diario among others.
