Emeritus Professor of Experimental Medicine, UCL

Gordon Stewart is Emeritus Professor of Experimental Medicine at University College London. His research interests are in cell membranes, their proteins and lipids, and the movement of salt atoms in the body. He described a number of inherited human diseases PLEASE PROVIDE SOME EXAMPLES and found the genetic cause for several PLEASE PROVIDE SOME EXAMPLES. HE IS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH PROFESSOR ANIL MEHTA OF DUNDEE UNIVERSITY ON.....

He trained in Medicine at Edinburgh University, undertook research in Cambridge and later at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School. He was a Wellcome Senior Fellow in Clinical Science and spent two years as a visiting scientist at Yale University Medical School in Connecticut, USA. He was a practising general physician at University College Hospital and after retirement from UCL worked part-time as a consultant physician at the Western isles Hospital in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. He now lives in Gullane, East Lothian.
