I am a Lecturer in Creative Writing. A poet and memoirist, my work lies between creative writing, memory studies and post-colonial studies. I completed my AHRC-funded PhD in creative writing at Newcastle, using historical research to narrate the 1947 journey of the SS Ormonde, the immigrant ship predating Windrush. Broadly my writing explores British multicultural society and its links to the Caribbean and China. My current practice-based research is on Chinese arrival and settlement to the UK. I am the author of several collections of poetry and a family memoir. I am also the former poet-in-residence at Keats House, London.
