Heather D. Hill is a faculty member at the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington, Seattle. She has a Ph.D. in Human Development and Social Policy (Northwestern, 2007), a Master's degree in Public Policy (University of Michigan, 1999), and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (University of Washington, 1994). Previously, Hill spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Ivory Coast, three years as a research analyst at Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., and six years as a faculty member at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. Her research examines how public and workplace policies influence family economic circumstances and child wellbeing in low-income families. She brings an interdisciplinary lens to these topics, integrating theoretical and methodological insights from developmental psychology, economics, and sociology. Hill is a faculty affiliate of the West Coast Poverty Center and the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology at the University of Washington and the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She also serves as a member of the Executive Council for the UW Population Health Initiative.
