Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology; Canada Research Chair in Musical Traditions, Cape Breton University

I do research in the areas of Nova Scotia Gaelic song, Cape Breton vernacular dance, and Atlantic Canadian disaster songs. I'm currently interested in issues of memory and memorialization, forgetting, and the links between language and music. I am the editor of the peer-reviewed journal MUSICultures, and I have published extensively myself, including journal articles, a book, magazine articles, and a website and blog.
