Postdoctoral Research Associate and Contract Instructor, Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University

Dr. Khalil received her Ph.D. degree from Carleton University in 2018 in Electrical, and Computer Engineering with a major in Software Engineering and a thesis focused on model-based testing. From 2015 to 2018, Dr. Khalil worked as a research assistant at the Software Quality Engineering Lab at Carleton University. She is a Postdoctoral Fellow and a contract instructor. Her work has been published in top peer-reviewed journals and conferences in software engineering, data science, and modeling & simulation. She also works as a contract instructor teaching Data Science and Software Engineering (Requirement Elicitation and Model-Driven Engineering). With her significant industry experience in Software Engineering, she promotes industry and academic collaborations to narrow the gap between both sides.
She has received multiple scholarships and awards, including the W.B. McDermid Holbein Memorial award for outstanding academic achievement and the teaching achievement award from Carleton University. She also has considerable experience in the software industry.
Furthermore, she is an advocate for empowering women in STEM as an Ontario Women in Engineering ambassador, a judge and a mentor for Technovation Girls, and a contributor to the IEEE Women in Engineering. She wrote many news articles and career advice pieces for the Conversation and the IEEE Women in Engineering Magazine. Additionally, she is a technical program member and a reviewer for many top journals and conferences.
