Hugh is an adjunct faculty member at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, where he has taught Science Leadership and Management to graduate students.

Hugh has over 30 years of experience with ExxonMobil where he worked in senior research, engineering, manufacturing, and planning management roles. His responsibilities included leading ExxonMobil's Corporate Strategic Research, Petroleum Products Research, and Global Chemicals Research organizations. He also served as Technical Manager at the company's Baton Rouge, Louisiana, refinery - one of the largest in the world.

Hugh holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Toronto and a B.Sc. and M.B.A. from Queen's University. He is a member of the Queen's Chemistry Innovation Council and has served on the Boards of the United Way in New Jersey and the Louisiana Art and Science Museum.
