Lecturer in Performance, University of Salford

I work predominantly on the BA Comedy Writing and Performance degree at the University of Salford where I have been a Lecturer in Performance since February 2016. Prior to this I worked in the area of education studies on the post compulsory PGCE stream at the UCL Institute of Education, having gained my own PGCE in 2005 from the IOE. My PhD (from Aberystwyth University in 2012) is in Comedy. Since 2015, I have been the editor of the journal 'Comedy Studies'.
Before working in HE, I worked mostly in comedy as a professional actor (as Ian Angus Wilkie). I am author of 'Performing in Comedy: A Student's Guide' (Routledge: 2016) and editor of the forthcoming publication 'Comedy Studies: A Twenty-First Century Reader', due out in 2019/20.
