Ioannis Bournakis

Associate Professor in Economics, SKEMA Business School

Ioannis Bournakis is an Associate Professor at SKEMA Business School in Lille, France. He previously served at Middlesex University London for thirteen years. He has also held visiting positions at Birkbeck College University of London and the American University in Cairo.  He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kent, UK, and an MA in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Manchester, UK. His research interests include Applied Macroeconomics, Productivity, Regional Economics, and Innovation. His current research focuses on the role of financial reforms on innovation, the fiscal aspects of the productivity puzzle, the effects of fiscal austerity on supply-side fundamentals and the conditions that make fiscal policies effective. His work appears in various international peer-reviewed journals including, among others, the Journal of International Money and Finance, International Journal of Production Economics, Economic Inquiry, Review of Income and Wealth, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Economic Letters, Regional Studies, Economic Modelling, and World Economy.
