Iris Berger

My area of interest and research is early childhood education. I have been a part of the UBC Faculty of Education as a lecturer for over 15 years, teaching and coordinating early childhood courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Since 2019 I have the rank of Assistant Professor of Teaching. My doctoral research and continued interests are focused on pedagogy in the early years, changing perceptions of children and early childhood educators (to be viewed as valued social-political actors), reconceptualizing leadership in early childhood education and the significance of children's relations with place and the outdoor environment.
