Isabel Cabas Sánchez

Ms. Isabel Cabas Sánchez has a degree in Biology (intensification in Health Biology and Biotechnology; 2008; notable), from the University of Murcia (UM). She has been an internal student (2006/2007), Collaboration fellow (MEC, 2007/2008) and predoctoral (2008/2012) within the Training in Excellence Groups program of the UM (04538/GERM / 06) in the Department of Biology Cell and Histology of the Faculty of Biology of the UM, under the supervision of Dra. Alfonsa García Ayala and Dr. Victoriano Mulero Méndez. She has completed the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Master (2008/2009; outstanding; quality mention) and has enjoyed contracts as Researcher in training (09/2010-09 /2012), Graduate Researcher (09/2012-11/ 2014) and Higher Degree (06/2016-11/2020). She is a PhD from the UM (07/26/2013; outstanding cum laude) and Extraordinary Doctorate Award (01/27/2014). It has achieved recognition for two triennia of research (UM, 10/01/2013; 03/01/2018) and category C animal experimentation training (04/07/2017). Her research is now focused on the generation of rare disease models and drug screening, using the powerful biomedical model zebrafish, having also an extensive experience on fish immunity, and its interactions with estrogens. She has participated as a researcher in the framework of several projects, three national and two regionals, and also as a principal investigator in one additional (2023-). She is a signatory of 30 indexed scientific publications (25 Q1), 5 of them as the first author, one also as "corresponding author", and 4 book chapters, one of them international. Their results have been presented to numerous National or International Congresses (50; 15 as the first signer), in addition to numerous conferences, having obtained the third prize for the best poster in one of them (2012). She has taught practical teaching for six academic years, in addition to the current one, and a part-time replacement associate professor (2018/1019), attached to the mentioned department. In addition, she has participated as a professor in courses aimed at university teacher training and being part of the Group of Teaching Innovation "BioGID" of the Faculty of Biology, UM (2015-present). She has supervised / co-tutored numerous students, including one of Erasmus program (2021), six TFM and twelve TFG. Three additional TFG in process. She is the director of the Doctoral Thesis of Amanda Esperanza López Cánovas (07/22/2029), Juan Francisco Rodríguez Vidal (second year) and Natalia Perez Escudero (first year). She has participated in divulgation in numerous scientific activities (FECYT Summer Science Camps, Biology Week, Biology Olympiad, Summer School of the Biology Faculty) and collaborated in the management of others such as the National Biology Olympiad (2012), summer courses of the “Universidad Internacional del Mar” (2016-2019, 2021, 2022) or the Summer School of the Faculty of Biology, UM (2017-2019, 2021, 2022). She has one year and four months of experience in the private sector in a leading company in the food sector (11/2014-04/2016). She is currently a CIBERER postdoctoral researcher in the mentioned department (02/11/2020-present). Recognition of the figures of Assistant Professor Doctor, Contracted Professor Doctor and Professor of Private University by ANECA. h-index: 12 (WoS).
