Professor of Medicine and Population Health Sciences, UMass Chan Medical School

My research and teaching is on mind-body processes and their use in clinical settings. I am interested in the psychological and neural processes associated with distress and well-being, the evolutionary pressures that have shaped those, and the degree to which they are modifiable through education and training to create greater ease in everyday life. I also lead courses and retreats for healthcare professionals interested in integrating these principles into their work with patients.
