Jane Battersby

I am an urban social and cultural geographer with ongoing research interests through Urban Food Security and Urban Food System. I am currently the Research Coordinator of the ESRC/DFID-funded Consuming Urban Poverty project (http://consumingurbanpoverty.wordpress.com) and am part of the Cape Town team for the IDRC/SSHRC-funded Hungry Cities Programme.

I have written and spoken on a range of food-related topics including supermarket expansion, the impact of climate change on urban food security, the intersection of food and race, children's geographies of food and the ways in which discourses about food in the global north and south shape policy and programmes.
