Janina is a postdoctoral research officer in the Department of Social Policy and Intervention in Oxford. She has predominantly been working on schooling among adolescent mothers in South Africa, looking at what contributes to girls' school withdrawal during pregnancy and their return to school after giving birth. More recently, she focussed her work on the benefits of formal (paid) childcare use for adolescent mothers and their children, and the implementation of national policies to improve outcomes for adolescent mothers; This work builds the basis for her latest analyses on care package components to support adolescent mothers' development in South Africa, and care package analyes across Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Kenya, and Mozambique.
