Jati is a PhD candidate and a researcher at Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, United Kingdom (UK). Jati's research focuses on disinformation and newsroom fact-checking during Indonesia's 2024 election. She had been selected as a researcher for the Greater Internet Freedom (GIF) Harmful Speech Monitoring Fellowship 2023, organised by Internews. Jati has been working as a professional journalist for 20 years. She represented Indonesia at the Intermedia Dialogue in Oslo, Norway, and Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2019, as well as in Tunis, Tunisia, in 2017. At the three international forums, she delivered presentations about the role of journalists in fighting hate speech and disinformation. In 2006, Jati received a StuNed scholarship to study international broadcast journalism at the Radio Nederland Training Centre (RNTC) in Hilversum, the Netherlands. She holds a master's degree in media management from Universitas Indonesia.
