Jean-François Bureau

Dr. Jean-François Bureau is a Professor at the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa. He is interested in representational and behavioural manifestations of attachment in preschool, and school-aged children, and in adolescents and their influence on social-affective and cognitive development. His current research deals with environmental precursors of attachment behaviour.

Dr. Bureau completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1999. He also did both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the Université du Québec à Montréal which he completed in 2005 under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Moss where he studied mother-child attachment in the preschool period. He then obtained a post-doctoral internship at Harvard Medical School where he studied the effect of family relationships on the development of psychopathologies in adolescence.
