Jenny Edge

Dr Jenny Edge is a breast surgeon in the Breast and Endocrine unit in the Division of Surgery at Stellenbosch University. She is also a Specialist Consultant and lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the university. Dr Edge previously spent 17 years in private practice in South Africa during which time she founded the Breast Course for Nurses and remains as a director. To date, the Breast Course for Nurses has educated over 600 nurses in Southern Africa and in the last 3 years has been involved in international and national collaborative projects in Southern Africa and South America. She is the co-author of the accompanying book Breast Care which is part of the Bettercare series. During the last few years, Dr Edge was involved in the foundation of the NPO, Breaking Barriers in Healthcare, which assists in providing greater access to health care.
She recently completed the Surgical Leadership Program at Harvard University. She currently serves as the president of the Surgical Research Society of Southern Africa and as the honorary president of the Tygerberg Student Representative Council.
