I'm undertaking a part time PhD at present at the university of Aberdeen in Rural Mobility as a Service, but prior to my post grad in 2001, I undertook an undergraduate degree at the university of York in social policy (2:1). I also taught European Policy, Social policy and politics at the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordons University from 2001-2005.

Since 2001 I have worked in intelligent transport solutions since and I sat on a working group for Mobility as a Service for Transport Scotland. I am currently an active member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport committee in Scotland and also a member of the International Transport Forum Periphery working group. Finally, I am the founder of SRITC (Scottish Rural and Islands Transport Community) which started in 2018 and an independent consultant since 2010.
