PhD Candidate, University of Michigan

Jessica Zychowicz is a PhD Candidate at the University of Michigan conducting research on gender and art-activism in Post-Soviet cultures. Her methods are interdisciplinary and rooted in political theory, gender studies, history, visual cultures, sociology, and new media theory. Her work investigates how displays of creativity instantiate publics, in particular, by examining debates on democracy and class among an emerging generation of artists and intellectuals concerned with transnational feminist dialogue.

Jessica has been published by the Anthropology of East Europe Review (AEER 2011), International Institute Journal (2012), and has work forthcoming in Krytyka: Journal of Ukrainian Politics and Society (2014). Selections from her translations of poetry have appeared in Prostory Literary Journal.
