Professor of Economic and Social History, University of Glasgow

I have taught at Brunel, Dundee and Glasgow universities. I have published widely on the historical political economy of modern Britain, including books on the economic policies of the Attlee and 1960s Wilson government. Since arriving in Scotland in 2004 I have worked on aspects of Scottish history, especially Dundee and the jute industry, whilst retaining my concern with the political economy of the UK.
