Joanne Whittaker

Jo's research focuses on using marine geophysical and geological datasets to understand how the interaction of upper mantle convection patterns and surface plate tectonics shape the formation of ocean basins and continental margins. Studying plate tectonic and mantle processes in concert allows her to understand both horizontal plate tectonic driven process and vertical mantle driven processes that together control the evolution of ocean basins over millions of years.
