Johan studied Political Science at the University of Lund (MA), Sweden and the University of Oldenburg (PhD), Germany. His PhD thesis was about Civic Education. Prior to his employment at the University of Southampton, Johan was an LSE Fellow and Researcher in Social Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science LSE (2010-2013) and a Lecturer in Social Policy at the University of Brighton (2008-2009 and 2012-2013).
