Emeritus Professor of Higher Education Research, The Open University

John Brennan is Emeritus Professor of Higher Education Research at the Open University. He is also currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Bath, London Metropolitan University and the London School of Economics. For almost 20 years, he directed the Centre for Higher Education Research and Information at the Open University, undertaking national and international research projects on different aspects of higher education's changing role and relationships in society. During this period, he published many books and articles on higher education themes. Before joining the Open University, he worked for the UK Council for National Academic Awards ( a national quality assurance body) in several roles and had academic jobs at the University of Lancaster and Teesside Polytechnic. Most recently, he has been working on two projects on higher education for the European Commission. By training a sociologist.
