I am the author of Academic Freedom in a Democratic South Africa, and related (including media) articles on higher education; and a book on literary and cultural studies guru, Raymond Williams: literature, Marxism and cultural materialism (Routledge 1999). As well as professional scholarly writing, I enjoy writing journalism for outlets such as THES, M&G, The Guardian, Business Day - ie when there is a suitable chance and topic
