Professor John M. Jenkins Assoc.Dip.Hort.(HAC), BA(UNE), BA(Hons)(UNE), PhD(UNE), GAICD
Since completing his PhD in 1996 John has held appointments at several universities including the University of Canberra (1994-1998), The University of Newcastle (1998-2007), and now SCU. John’s research in leisure and tourism studies of some 20 years has been inspired and informed by the disciplines of human geography and public policy, by scholars working at the intersections of those disciplines, and by a lifetime of participation in diverse leisure and outdoor recreation activities. John was co-editor (2001-2003) and then managing editor Managing Editor (2004-2012), Annals of Leisure Research, which is published by Taylor and Frances.
Research interests: tourism public policy; tourism planning; outdoor recreation management in urban and rural settings; non-resident fatherhood and fathers’ leisure with their children.
