Jonathan A. D. Fisher

Associate professor and Research Chair in Marine Fisheries Ecosystems Dynamics, Memorial University of Newfoundland

I am the Research Chair in Marine Fisheries Ecosystems Dynamics within the Centre for Fisheries Ecosystems Research (CFER) at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland. My primary research goals are to understand and quantify how changing environmental conditions and fisheries alter the characteristics and recovery dynamics of marine populations, communities, and ecosystems—with a focus on the fisheries resources of Newfoundland and Labrador and the eastern Canadian Arctic. These goals are being achieved through collaborative research with industry, academic, and government partners and the supervision of graduate student research projects. Before joining the CFER in 2011, I was a postdoctoral fellow concurrently with Queen’s University (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) and the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada). I received my PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, my MSc from Dalhousie University, and my BSc from Queen’s University.
