Lecturer in French and Francophone Studies, Bangor University

I obtained my PhD from the University of Exeter in 2012 and, after lecturing positions at the University of Portsmouth and the University of Liverpool, I joined Bangor University as Lecturer in French and Francophone Studies in 2018. Also in 2018, I published a monograph with University of Wales Press entitled 'The Algerian War in French/Algerian Writing: Literary Sites of Memory', which analyses memories of the Algerian War of Independence (1954-1962) and how the war and its memory has been represented in the literary work of French authors of Algerian origin.

Beyond my focus on representations and memories of the Algerian War, my research interests lie in the broader field of Francophone Postcolonial Studies, including the history and memory of the French Empire, immigration, identity, mobility, immobility, penal colonies and sites of incarceration.
